Summer Session Selection

It is Summer Week Selection time at Piano Lab!

As you know, Piano Lab is a year-round program but we shake things up a bit in the summer for a little fun and to allow for family travel schedules. Rather than weekly lessons, the students will select several week long summer sessions during which they will attend daily 1 hour classes Monday-Friday...It’s Piano Camp!

During each week-long session, students will dig into a multi-part performance piece.   In addition to working on their project piece, students will develop technique, improve sight reading skills, and have some fun with group games and special activities such as improvisation and composition.

Instructions:

Students should select THREE week-long sessions to attend. Please review the options below and select an A, B and C week for your child. Sessions are one-hour/day and will be scheduled between the hours of 1-7 pm. You can provide scheduling requests in the comments section and our final schedule will be posted on June 1st.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can my student attend multiple of the same week? (Ex. Two ‘A’ weeks or all ‘C’ weeks?)

If your student attends multiple of the same lettered week they will experience some repetition, but it is an option. In other words, for all ‘A’ weeks, we will work on the same project piece and incorporate the same games and special activities. That said, the project pieces have multiple parts so on their second ‘A’ week, your student could learn a new part. And while we like to keep games fresh, your student should still benefit from the same activities as their are designed to test knowledge and build skills.

Can we just take the summer off and rejoin in the fall?

Our policy states that if you leave the program and want to rejoin within 90 days, you will incur a $150 re-registration fee and run the risk of losing your child’s spot in our program.

What if we are gone ALL summer?

If you are out of town all summer and cannot physically attend classes but want to maintain your student’s spot for the fall and not incur the re-registration fee we do have an option for you! The information for each of the lettered weeks will be packaged in Piano Lab Summer Kits (A, B, and C) Kits will include daily instructions for warming up, drilling special skills and learning the same song we are learning at Piano Lab. We will also videotape (or live stream) the classes so your student can observe and , when possible, play along! *Please note that to request a Summer Kit, you must select your sessions by the summer selection due date of April 1st and write ‘Summer Kit’ in the comments section.
